Financial and Physical Health

Along with educational programs, those activities that promote health for children and families are supported by the United Way of Logan County.  These include programs that are managed by the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Girls on the Run a nd The Lincoln Area YMCA.  

Partner agencies Lincoln Pastoral Counseling and the Center for Youth and Family Solutions provide mental health resources and counseling for those families and individuals in crisis.  Funds provided by donations made to the United Way of Logan County help off set the cost of couseling, allowing these agencies to provide assistance to those that may not otherwise be able to afford it.  

United Way of Logan County and FamilyWize Community Service Partnership, an organization focused on improving people’s lives by providing access to affordable prescription medications, today announced that local residents have access to a free, easy to use prescription savings card that to date has helped over 11 million Americans save more than $1 billion on their prescriptions.  Access the information flyer with frequently asked questions:  Familywize Information

Being financially healthy is also important.  The United Way has partnered with H&R Block to provide a free tax filing service to those who quality.  MyFreeTaxes.com is powered by H&R Block's premium software and is available at no cost to any couple or individual with adjusted gross income of $66,000 or less in 2017.  Access to expert help is also available.  Almost a million people nationwide have used MyFreeTaxes, bringing over $1 billion in refunds back to our local communities. Funds provided to the Salvation Army help families in financial crisis.  Help with utility bills or rent is provided through this agency in Logan County. They are also a resource for those who are in crisis for other reasons, and can provide temporary shelter, meals or othr supplies. 

The Red Cross assists families in crisis as well.  In the case of a fire, tornado or other disaster, the Red Cross is there to help.  They provide resources for those that have lost everything and help them get back on their feet.  

Living Alternatives Crisis Pregnancy Center assists those with unplanned pregnancy, providing education and supplies to ensure a healthy pregnancy, birth and beyond. 

The Lincoln Center for Developmental Rehabilitation provides life skills training, job training and placement for those with developmental disabilities at the Lincoln Center.  Individuals learn to be self sufficient in life and successful in employment with the help of this training and support.
