The United Way of Logan County, Illinois is dedicated to laying the foundation for future success for the county's young people through promoting and supporting educational opportunities. Reading is fundamental to academic success. A book exchange was hosted for children age birth to ten during the City of Lincoln's 3rd Friday event in August. The turnout was great and many donated books were given to kids who were eager to take them home and read them, either with their parents or on their own. Thank you to the Lincoln Public Library and board members for their donations of children's books. The event will be repeated at the 3rd Friday event in September (September 15th) in downtown Lincoln on the square. Children can bring books they want to donate and pick up a new/used book or just come and get a book to read. Thank you to all families who attended and encouraged their children to read and learn!
