The Salvation Army centered at the Keest Center in Lincoln, Illinois provides immediate emergency assistanceto help those in need in Logan County. The "Rapidraft" program administered by the Salvation Army is unique in such that all needs are reviewed and assistance is not limited to just one specific need. A check, payable to the vendor, can be given t a client to provide immediate relief when needed to pay for health care, lodging, rental and utility assistance. The objective of the program is to meet all human needs at the point of assessment of the need. Many services provide temporary assistance to aid those returning to the workforce, enabling them to become self-sufficient. In 2016, The Salvation Army assistance 18 different families with rent and 31 different families with utility assistance unerthisprogram. Working with Illinois American Water, 68 families were assisted with water cost. 24 local kids went to 5 different camps at Eagle Crease Camp in Washburn, Illinois. The agency also partners with the local Pizza Hut and their "Harvest Supply Program" to provide food to those in need. Funds allocated from the United Way of Logan County are used to provide work clothes/boots for job humters, some prescription needs, and assistance with utility payments or the cost of necessary transportation.
