Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois - Senior Nutrition Program

One of the community support programs that is provided by the Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois (CAPCIL) is their Senior Nutrition Program.  This program serves home delivered meals to seniors and those with a disability in Logan County that are homebound and unable to prepare nutritious meals on their own.  Those that deliver meals to the homes can also check on the wellbeing of the individual.  The agency also provides delivery of meals to congregate sites for seniors that need assistance with nutrition, providing a social gathering in which to participate.  In 2016, over 15,400 home delivered meals were provided along with over 6,800 meals at congregate sites.  This program allows seniors and those with a disability to remain in their homes rather than having to go to long term care facilities because of the lack of access to nutrition.  Funding from the United Way of Logan County is allocated to this program to provide groceries and supplies so that these meals can be made available to those who need them.
