COVID-19 Response Fund Grants Awarded Week Four Total $80,000

SPRINGFIELD – The Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln and United Way of Central Illinois announced today the fourth round of COVID-19 Response Fund grant recipients. In total, $80,000 was awarded to the following organizations:

  • Springfield Urban League Inc.- $15,000
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois- $10,000
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois- $10,000
  • Real Life Church Food Pantry- $10,000
  • Educational Day Care Center- $8,400
  • Illinois Presbyterian Home- $7,500
  • The Salvation Army Lincoln Service Extension Center- $5,000
  • Helping Hands of Springfield- $5,100
  • University of Illinois, Springfield Stars Food Pantry – $5,000
  • Midwest Youth Services- $4,000

Thus far, nearly $200,000 in grants have been awarded.


Donors have now contributed and pledged over $500,000 to the COVID-19 Response Fund, including $50,000 in seed funding from the Community Foundation and United Way and $250,000 from the Illinois COVID-19 Response Fund.

New funding partners since last week include the Massie Family Fund and Capestrain-Tracy Family Fund at the Community Foundation and the Vollintine Foundation. Grants are administered in partnership with the Pandemic Community Advisory Group consisting of funding partners and representatives from community, health and government sectors across the Springfield, IL region.


The Fund cannot provide grants to individuals, however, it does support community-based organizations that have experience providing essential services and support to local residents.

Local nonprofits serving individuals and families affected by the coronavirus outbreak are encouraged to apply for COVID-19 Response Fund grants by completing the online application at www.CFLL.org.


The COVID-19 Response Fund is designed to complement the work of public health officials and expand capacity in Sangamon and surrounding counties by strategically and efficiently addressing impacts from the coronavirus outbreak.
